Crocosmia, summer flowering bulbous plant

Posted on January 2, 2022March 2, 2022 by Lizzy Borders

Crocosmia, summer bulb
Crocosmia or Montbretia is a summer flowering bulbous plant. Crocosmia flowers in summer and comes in orange-yellow to bright red. This flower fits well in a mixed border. It has fine flower spikes that bloom well into late summer. Also nice to combine with ornamental grasses.
It is an airy “weaving plant”. Weaving plants can be mixed well in flowering borders.
Try a combination of orange-red crocosmia and purple tones, this will enhance the color effect. You can buy the bulbs online and at a number of garden centers.

Color palette
With Crocosmia you give a good dose of color to the garden in the first place.

This garden plant is originally orange in color. You can now choose from a range of colors, from orange-yellow to scarlet red. This fiery color palette makes the Crocosmia a special appearance in the garden.
This is further enhanced by the graceful, upright inflorescence and the many flowers on a flower spike.

An easy plant, it can withstand a lot of sun, little water and dry soil. The ideal bulbous flower for anyone with little time.
I leave the bulbs in the ground in the winter. They reproduce themselves and next year you will have a nice splash of color in your garden.
